Last weekend with Graham and Anna

I put together a fun slideshow of last weekend when we hung out with our wonderful nephew and niece (and their awesome parents too) and I basically stalked the kids with the camera. CLICK HERE to enjoy or on the photo below.

Happy Leap Year Day!

It's a cool - happen - once - every - four - years kinda day and I hope you're enjoying it. I've been to a few personal appointments today and all is going well on my end - I seem to be good and healthy so it's a good day for me.

Cheers everyone! Treat yourself to something today!

A wonderful sunny weekend

We are very blessed here to be having beautiful sun and no-jacket-needed warm weather. To think just a few weeks ago we were burried in snow. The beautiful weather brings amazing light and makes me want to get out and shoot some photos so I caught up with our wonderful niece and nephew Anna and Graham, as well as their wonderful parents Ken and Heather and we had lots of fun hanging out. For now I just want to share two of my favourites from the weekend fun.

A Victoria Adventure and some crazy seagulls

So one of the things my husband and I did when we were in Victoria was go on a little stroll on the Breakwater at Ogden Point. This is where the crusie ships come in in the summer and the breakwater is there to help shield the ships from rough water. It's about a 1 km stretch of concrete out into the Ocean and you can walk along it to a lighthouse. There's even a cute little cafe back on land to warm yourself up at. When we were there on Sunday it did happen to be a beautifully sunny day but boy, the WIND WAS SO COLD. We tried to grin and bear it all the way out to the lighthouse and then actually had to walk back into the wind on the way back. It was worth it though and is a really nice walk.

There are no barriers on the side so it's kind of intimidating to walk along the sides.
If you're afraid of heights you should walk in the middle.

We saw this crazy seagull that had was trying to eat a fish. We don't think he was able to swallow it properly. He was just standing there like this for quite a while.

Then we came across this seagull trying to eat this pretty starfish. Nature's cycle.

Towards The U.S. of A. See - lots of people - no side rails - ACK!

Scott shielding himself from the wind behind the lighthouse (Note, there are a lot of people doing this, maybe theyneed a bigger lighthouse)

It's COLD!!!

The steps on the side of the breakwater are really cool.

The Laurel Point Inn

For those looking to get away for a short weekend trip or a wonderful vacation, may I suggest one wonderful hotel in Victoria, BC - THE LAUREL POINT INN. AND, may I also add that this is a WONDERFUL place to get married! Just picture getting married in a Japanese garden overlooking the Victoria Harbour and having your reception in an all glass atrium overlooking said harbour and said gardens. Contact Jen Smith at the Hotel if you're interested - she'll take great, great care of you.

My husband and I did make a weekend getaway this past weekend, mostly just to get some R&R and feel like we were away from our everyday lives (the fact that I'm now sick with a bad cold and cough and my voice is coming and going made this past weekend even better). We were lucky enough to stay at the Laurel Point in one of their awesome Studio Suites that were just recently renovated and for all of you architecture buffs out there, the room was in the wing that Arthur Erickson designed. The room itself is totally my style - clean and contemporary, with one amazingly comfortable king size bed that you don't ever want to get out of. The room had access straight out onto to earlier mentioned Japanese garden and had one killer bathroom and soaker tub.

All I can say is that if you get a chance to stay there you should and definately stay in a studio suite. Check out the pics of the room and the gardens and if you feel like looking into the hotel for your wedding venue be sure to give me a call for your photos, the photo ideas were endless and I can quickly see this place becoming one of my favourite venues.

One of the comfiest beds ever!

I loved the quilt at the end of the bed
